Thursday 18th January - walks **** – Levington and Landguard –
sunny and cold.
After a really cold night I was keen to see if I could get some icy pics
which are hard to come by on the coast at Felixstowe so I decided to get up
early and drive over to Levington marina to catch the sunrise:) I arrived
at the marina and spent ages driving around looking for the best spots to
take some pics, the bottom section of the marina was frozen too! I got some
OK photos of the sunrise before driving up the lane to Levington Creek,
with the tide low there was a fantastic covering of thin ice in the margins
looking great against the blue sky:) Then home for breakfast, exercises and
because it was still such a lovely winters day I packed a picnic, then Mag
and I drove down to the Manor to another walk around the Nature Reserve
sheltered for the most part from the cold wind from the west! It was lovely
and quiet too, we found the keen breeze as we neared the River Orwell by
the small wooden pier where we sheltered behind the concrete bunker to
enjoy our picnic as a large container ship slowly headed out! Well rested
we continued along the Orwell, then turned towards Felixstowe with the
breeze behind us again making you feel warm enough. So another top day
enjoying the best that Suffolk has to offer, a quick stop at Lidl before
home for a warming cuppa and hot cross bun – top day.
PS - I was also chuffed to have a pic on ITV,s About Anglia :)
